Well Tails works...

Sitting at Eastern Michigan University on the wireless network using T.A.I.L.S. It's a little slow, but that's ok. I'm riding across TOR to an exit node in germany.

To get this to work:
I loaded the system from the Live CD.

Then using the unsafe browser, I was able to get to the capture portal. To do that, you need to go to a non-https site. I like to use www.sluggy.com. Going to www.google.com got grabbed by HTTPSeverywhere, and was dragged to encrypted.google.com. Sadly that doesn't work with EMU's capture portal.

After that, started the ice-weasel browser to make sure it worked right. Which it did. Then shutdown the unsafe browser.

So this works.

There will be some more posts coming

So I've tested T.A.I.L.S, it comes with sshfs pre-installed. It's also really easy to use. It looks like all the traffic goes through T.O.R. Next step will to see if it works with the University's wifi.

I've been asked to do a talk on it.

I'm also going to do some write ups on the options I didn't use and why I didn't want to use them.

Actual workout with the straps.

Got a decent workout with my home made suspension trainer. I used the TRX FitDeck. I made it through just over half the deck. 20 cards, I had 12 left to do.

Things I'm thinking right now. The handle straps are too long. Might cut those back to 6 feet, like the to strap. The foot straps are too long. Going to try them at 14 inches instead of 18.

But I'm going to wait on feed back from Jenn and Sarah first. (They're 2 trainers trying them out, with clients).

Going to stick with the red straps (at least for the handles, Sarah has named the thing Big Red).

more on the Cert

So I mentioned in a little shocked. I got picked for a free cert course.

After some emails around on who was going to take what, I'm taking WiFu. I actually offered to take it, kind of. I still would have preferred Penetration Testing with Backtrack. But I have a better chance of getting a cert with WiFu and I think that is a little more important.

So for the last week or so (little longer probably), I've been looking at getting things together to do the course.

I'm going to get 2 Alfa AWUS036H and 1 BU-353 USB GPS Unit. The GPS isn't needed but will be fun to play with. And I'll finally be able to do Wardriving / Warwalking and map the data out, instead of just saying hmmm... But that's for another post.

I picked up a cheap old Gateway Celeron, 256 meg, 15 gig hard drive. I'm going to toss straight Debian on it, and attach one of the USB Network Devices to it.
I'm going to dig out my old Linksys wireless router, flash it with Linksys firmware (I can put dd-wrt back on it later), and hook the other Wifi device to my laptop running BackTrack. (If don't pick up another cheap PC first).

I'll update the blog as I go along.

Thursday: During the day

So I got to the Funeral home about 9:45am.

I got a couple of pics of the hearse. It was pretty cool looking.

When I went Wednesday night, he was dressed in a suit. Yesterday they had re-dressed him, in his riding gear.

The funeral progression had lots of cars, and about 10 motorcycles. The trip took about 45 miles. It was a nice last ride. Wish I had my motorcycle working. These were the riders that I want to associate with. Not because several of them were Tang Soo Do masters, but because they had the right attitude. If you're on 2 wheels your a brother, regardless of what you ride. One even had a sticker, Bikers are a rare breed, Harley riders are a dime a dozen.

The ride went from Flatrock Mi, to Gibraltar Mi, around to New Boston Mi, back to the Funeral home. We rode through the cemetery (funeral home was on it). Saw the new Lighthouse they but cremated remains in. Master Burns will be the first set of ashes entombed there.

Went to the luncheon after. Lots of fun. Lots of people I met. It really was a Master's met / who's who of South East Michigan Tang Soo Do.

Didn't get home until 4:30 pm.

another goal down

Just ran through

Pyung Ahn O Dan though my head. All moves. Yes I'll be corrected in some of them, but I think I might just know it.

Now to beat Bassai.

Goals for 2009 - follow up

Made some changes to the list, actually accomplished 2 items... well part of 2 anyway.

Changes:
I'm thinking of making Health longer. Add doing ETK with 16kg and 20kg before doing 24kg. Not that I really want too, but I've been thinking and I think I want to loose some muscle mass too, not just the fat. But that's if the 22% to 24% was right when I did the body fat test. Think maybe I should by one of those body fat scales. I know my BMI is high, but I also know I have muscle not just fat.

I also added some steps for the finance goal. Starting small, but I have about 5 accounts, I want to get 500.00 buffer in each of them, but for now, I'm going to focus on 100.00 in each. So I can't go on a spending spree (on the shopping list) until I get 100.00 in one, and once the 100.00 is there, I can't touch it. I also priced out part of what it's going to take to build my new PC. I think I might get it for between $1,000.00 and $1,200.00

Completed:
Create Orange Checking account. Direct Deposit rent + to it.
Under reading, I'm down to the last book in the Giants' series by Hogan.

Small wins make you feel good.
